  6. Courier is not, nor has ever been public domain or free software.

  8. The registered version of Courier may not be duplicated other than for backup
  9. purposes. A registered copy of Courier must be treated like a book in that the
  10. same registered copy of Courier may not be used in more than one computer at
  11. the same time.

  13. Users are granted a limited license to use the trial version of Courier for an
  14. evaluation period of up to 30 days in order to determine if it suits their
  15. needs. Any other use of Courier or use past this period requires registration.

  17. All users are granted a limited license to copy the evaluation version of
  18. Courier only for the purpose of allowing others to try it, subject to the
  19. above restrictions as well as these:

  21.     Courier must be distributed in absolutely unmodified form, including ALL
  22.     program, documentation, and other files.

  24.     Courier may not be included with any other product or service for any
  25.     reason whatsoever without a license from Michael Gillum. No charge or
  26.     payment may be levied or accepted for Courier.

  28. Bulletin Board system operators are encouraged to post the unregistered
  29. version of Courier on their BBS for downloading by their users without written
  30. permission only if the above conditions are met, and only if no special fee is
  31. necessary to access Courier.

  33. Distributors of User Supported and Public Domain software must obtain written
  34. permission from Michael Gillum before distributing Courier and must follow the
  35. above conditions. This is necessary to ensure protection for ourselves and
  36. Courier users against unscrupulous persons.
